I'm 69 years old and have been a runner all of my life and an ultrarunner for almost 30 years. I love running trails and it has become an important part of my life. My daughter, now 38, is also a trail runner and we have run a number of ultras together. A year ago I started noticing right hip problems which were eventually diagnosed as severe arthritis. PT has helped and a cortisone shot has gotten me 6+ weeks of comfortable running but is limited to 3-4 time a year and the rest of the time I am in pain a lot, even when walking or standing for any period of time. I plan to get a THR sometime in the next year or so. I am glad there is hope that I can continue some trail running, even if the longer distances are not possible. I am glad I found this site to help know what to expect before, during and after the procedure. Thanks, Tom, for creating the site.
