Hi Chris – most impressed with your 25k pace, and the amount of running you have done this year! My longest run was 1/2 marathon at 5:55/km pace, which was a bit disappointing as I had set my watch up to expect 2 hours and got 2:04 but it was a hilly course and it was just after New Year so there are excuses…
Pleased to hear the Virtual Hour is back, I shall have another go and hope to not break this year. I was ticking off County Standards (at 1m, 5k, 5m, 6m, 7m, and 10m distances) at 65-69 category Silver level and was able to use my first Hour attempt to claim the 7 mile one, and had a qualifying 5k parkrun already, so I only(!) had to work hard to do the 1,5,6 and 10 miles to get my certificate. Not run a fast mile for years but found I could sneak under 7:28 at my first attempt – 30 years ago that was Lydiard lsd pace… Since then I reprised the mile on my 70th birthday, got 7:17 and Gold standard and now have to have another attempt for this year – Diamond beckons at 6:56 pace! My best marathon was 6:37 pace, in 1989…
Anyway, Gold 70-74 7 mile standard is 59 minutes so with any luck this will fit in perfectly with the Virtual Hour again. Half marathon needs to be 1:55:32 or better – that will be a challenge.
