It will get better. Everybody’s pain threshold is different. My worst pain was day 6 post-surgery. I had to take any oxy and crashed for several hours.
The pain you’re experiencing now is surgery pain. Remember you just put your body thru major surgery. And the older we get, the longer it takes to recover (I’m 66). I’m 13 months post-surgery and do not regret it at all.
