Hi Everyone!
Thank you for being part of this community. I love that this site runs by itself without me having to check in and post regularly. Especially these last 2 years…..
In July of 2019, I got a new job….a startup…..it has been taking up all my time. Sadly, I have only been able to keep up on accepting new members, liking your posts, and liking your Strava runs. Posting regularly has been a challenge. I’m still here though. The job is fantastic! I am the director of IT for a contract manufacturer of injectable pharmaceuticals. I have been spending a lot of my time learning the ins and outs of validating computer systems in federally regulated environments. It really has taken up a LOT of my time. So I apologize in advance for not posting as much.
Right now I am dealing with some hammy issues. My left hammy is having some issues right where it connects to the sit bone on my pelvis. It makes running a little uncomfortable. Basically, its a pain in my butt. So if you’ve been tracking me, you’ll notice my weekly Strava miles have pretty much tanked over the last 3 months. One thing I have noticed is that I have lost some leg and hip strength during these Covid times and I believe these are major contributors to the issue that I have been having. But I am in PT and getting regular massages now, so I hope it won’t be long before I am back at it and posting great post-hip reports again. I am thankful to all of you for keeping up the posts and encouraging each other. We are a community of hip runners and your involvement has been appreciated.
I have a huge favor to ask all of you. While HipRunner does not have a true mission statement, it is focused on letting individuals know that running does not need to end after your hip replacement. This community is here for you to support you and encourage you along your journey back to running. We all run for the joy we get from running.
So how about running for JOYA?
I have a special request. I would really like you all to consider taking the time to register and run for Joya. Joya Child and Family is a neurodevelopmental center that services medically complex children ages birth to three in the Eastern Washington. It was hit pretty hard by Covid. Their usual in-person fundraisers were not able to take place due to COVID restrictions. The restrictions were necessary, but they took a toll on Joya. So Joya is hosting a virtual 5K. I know this is late, but registration will end tomorrow (July 15). If you could consider signing up, I would be grateful. The link to register if https://www.joya.org/run-for-joya/. But even if you can’t register, I encourage you to check out the great work that Joya does. You can learn more about Joya at www.joya.org. I have to provide full disclosure. My wife is the executive director and we are parents of a child that went through the school many years ago. Starting in the year 2000, our youngest son Tommy, received care there after an intracerebral hemorrhage. The staff took us under their wing and assured us that they were going to set Tommy up to be able to live his best life. He is now a strapping young lad who graduated from High School in 2019 and is working hard to become a personal trainer. Joya is an amazing place and the staff provides hope to new parents when they need it most. Honestly, I wish I could take you ALL for a tour of the place. The work that this staff does is nothing short of amazing. I’ll be running the virtual 5k, and posting it on Strava and HipRunner.com. I have designated Sunday, August 22nd as “The HipRunner Run-for-Joya” day. On that day, I would really love to see a large number of posts of you out there running a 5K for Joya. If you don’t want to post, send me the pics and I will post a pic of you in my post! The top fastest Hiprunner male and female will get a free shirt from HipRunner! Please join me. #HipRunnerStrong #Joya
Stay Hip Everyone!
