pain from sleeping on side?

Hi all, I’ve never posted here, so forgive me for not following proper protocol.  I had a THR of my right hip in 2012.  Best decision of my life.  I’m 46; I walk/wog/run to stay in shape and because I love running.  I’ve run several 5K’s on the THR with no problem.  What has always been a bit of a problem is this:  whenever i sleep on my right side, (even in a very comfortable bed), my hip and leg and knee all seem out of alignment…trying to run is painful, or at least uncomfortable, and the pain will sometimes go down my quad.  Anyone else?

I had pain that would start around the top of my groin and then work down my leg making it numb and difficult to run. When I incorporate more stretching and strength training into my routine it gets better. I’ve posted here a few free 7 minute workout apps that I do. I’ve also recently started going to the gym a couple of days a week just for 30 minutes to maintain my form for my long distance runs. Hope this helps. p.s. I’ve just started taking Magnesium Maltrate supplement and that appears to be helping light cramps I would have in my calfs turning over in bed.

Thanks so much for your help, Dave! This site is hard to navigate, or maybe it’s me, or maybe I’ve just not spent enough time on here! Thanks again. I printed out your post. Happy Running! Best, Susan
