Internal rotation

Hello all

I had bilateral hip replacement 3 years ago. 6 months apart. I started back running slowly one year after my first hip and now I’m running more frequently. I’m stil, in the mill as it’s too cold and icy here to do much running outdoors.
I’ve noticed though that my left leg and foot rotates medially during the stance phase when running.  I’m wondering if anyone else has had or has this similar problem and what you’ve done to correct  for it? My left peroneal muscle is also taking the brunt of this as it bets tight and painful after a longer run.

Thank you

Maria

Hi Maria, much like you I’m 3 years on from double hip replacement. Both of mine internally rotate, so longer distances can be a bit sore, but I’m working on it just by concentrating on my foot strike and slightly widening my gait, which seems to be working. [ along with gym work]. I didn’t realise I was doing it until it was pointed out to me by a fellow runner. My new hips were by the posterior method so maybe that could have something to do with it but I’m only guessing.
