Eight years ago, I had my hips replaced, and dialed back my running 80%, for fear of wearing out the prothestics. In 2008, a study found the aveage hip replacement was good for over 15 years, but that was first generation prothestics. Since mine are cobalt/ceramic (second generation, I think), I would assume they last longer, but haven’t found the studies. And, it would be nice to see a comparaison of non-runner vs. ultramarathoners replacement times. I’d really like some hard science, if there is any. jimmyc
