I was born with hip dysplasia and I was in a cast at the age of one . I started running at a young age and I've always been very active . About seven years ago I felt some kind of a muscle pull as I was out running . Of course I did very little and was somewhat in denial that there was an injury . About two years ago I got back from a run and was doing some stretching and I could not lift my right leg of the ground . This was probably not the first time I realized this but it was the start of my reality. I stopped running until I could remedy this. I've tried three different physical therapist, I've tried prolotherapy and PRP and I had Cortizone shots. I haven't run in two years but I've been biking swimming and hiking . Two days ago I had an x-ray that shows bone on bone in the hip and I have a referral to a surgeon . Update: I had a THR in August 2017 . I did my physical therapy religiously, took walks every day, and eventually started cycling about two months after the replacement . Fast forward to 2019 and I can run pain-free, Swim and Bike. I think the key is the physical therapy which I still sometimes do and getting the muscles in my ‘bum’ leg to strengthen again .
