Congrats on the new hip! 🙂 Your plan sounds good! You are easing into it and giving the hip the time it needs to adequately heal. In fact you may even adjust that schedule as your hip starts feeling stronger. The key is to listen to it and Give it a rest when it tells you to. Do this and you will be running that half marathon in May. 🙂

I am one week today from left THR. My plans sound similar to your in taking it slow and transition through the healing process. Good luck and I look forward to watching your progression.

Awesome! We’re close – I’ve done OC Marathon. I’ll do Surf City 1/2 in February. I am 4 months post op and running 5ks. I am slower than I was, but that’s temporary. I go a lot fast on the treadmill, but that’s a self control mechanism for me – I try to stride lightly while running in the road or sidewalk. I doubt there is any ortho surgeon who will tell you you CAN run. Mine told me – I won’t say you can’t, but listen to you body and go live your life. And that, I did!
Keep it up. It just continues to get better!

Hi fellow hip runners! On Friday August 31st I turn 62. I usually use the month of Aug to log in the number of miles for my birthday. Last year it took me nearly the whole month to jog walk 61 miles. In my younger years, 2 weeks. This year I couldn’t do it because of my THR. Instead I will walk a 5k cuz that’s 3.1 miles on the 31st and then later on in the day I will bike a 10k for 6.2 miles on my 62nd birthday. It’ll be a fun challenge since the numbers are so perfect this year.
