Hey Chris – best of luck on your surgery tomorrow. Remind yourself to take it slow with recovery and not rush back to running. It’s super important to allow time for the femur to bond with the metal in the implant. i’ve had several different surgeons advise waiting at least six months to a year before running to ensure fusion. I think those that start running prematurely at 8 to 12 weeks risk loosening scenarios in both acetabular cup and femur. I would encourage you to read up on this in some clinical studies.
Based on what I hear firsthand from friends that have had replacements you should be cycling somewhere around 8-12 week mark. You’ll definitely be good for cross country skiing next season.
Keep us posted on your recovery.
