I am 16 months post op for a right total hip replacement. I am wanting to go for run and would like to start training. I have a Glide Cycle I purchased and plan to start using it as soon as the weather (Springfield, Illinois) warms up. Snow, ice, and temperatures -10 to 35 degrees makes it unbearable. I have been lifting weights, squats, riding a recumbent bike, arc trainer, walking on the treadmill and attempting to build up my right hip. I still feel like I have lost half of my hip muscles and wonder if they will ever return. I have attempted to run outside and on the treadmill. My hip tires quickly and then I become a hobbling mess. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or should I just continue to do short cycles of running and walking until I feel more comfortable? I am hoping my hip will tire less and I will be able to run longer distances in time. It really sucks to feel like a beginner again.
