Clare.

I have more questions than answers. I’m also a tri, qualified nationals last 3 years.
I’m told THR is inevitable with arthritis caused by bone on bone. Running at 66 yo is my passion , with several bucket runs on my list. Hip pain comes and goes. Today , Did a hard 20 mi bike / 1000 m swim and felt great after. Can’t run .50 mi without pain level at 8-9. Thought about stem cell or PRP but that won’t help bone on bone . Or does it – anyone have experience?

My personal operation recovery´s since 2011 are torn miniscus, torn rotator cuff due to bike accidents and prostectomy due to cancer. Keeping a positive has been key. Having goals set to recover for also helped. I’m told not to run for 1 year after THR, and strength train instead.

Can anyone define recovery and running after THR ?

I think your on a good recovery path with your fitness by spinning and swimming with pull bouy. It’s boring as all get out, but aqua jogging helped my knee recovery.
