Dave – Still making progress on my return to running/racing

0907140832Still making good progress on my running recovery. The last 2 weeks I’ve participated in all 3 elements of our weekly Triathlons, for the last months or so I’ve doubled up on the bike skipping the run. I’m just running the 5K and pausing around the 2 mile mark to stretch but able to catch the group back up. Today my last mile was 7:51, still a way of my old pace but good to be running. I’m still running twice a week on the tread mill in Miami, this week upping my speed to 8mph from 6.5 a few weeks ago without any issues. I stretch and do light weights to strengthen my core, glutes and hips for about 40 minutes prior to the run and 20 minutes after that help, although I don’t get the same chance during the triathlon.

Ride for CancerYesterday I rode my longest distance so far on the ElliptiGO, 34 miles in 2 hours 16 minutes with a pce of 15mph in the Ride for Cancer in Clearwater. The week before I was the fastest person in the ElliptiGO International Challenge with an average speed of 18.2 miles. The ElliptiGO is certainly helping my recovery and keeping me super fit while I recover. I actually saw another during the race and one the riders I passed said she had one so they are starting to group in popularity. If you haven’t tried one or seen one, you should certainly check them out at www.ElliptiGo.com, they are so fun to ride. I hope to be able to race a 5K in a couple of months times, I could complete it now but don’t want to return until I’m happy with my time.
