5 week report

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks following my left thr. I still have pain especially at night but I have made steady progress in the last 4 weeks. I walk around a mile or so without a cane,with a slight limp. I attend physical therapy twice a week which is excellent. My gluteus medius is weak so I get exercises to strengthen the butt muscles. I am able to ride my bicycle 6 miles with no problem. I also use an eliptigo for around a mile or 2.  I am back in the gym doing upper body but i have lost a lot. I used to bench 245 but now strugle with 155.  I spoke to mu physical therapist who will start teaching me how to run in another month or so.… (Click Here to View Full Post and Comments)

RobertB my story

I started having groin pain around 12 years ago. At that time i was playing full court, running half marathons once a year, 5 and 10 ks every 2 weeks or so tennis singles. I talked to a friend of mine who was an orthopaedic surgeon who said i pulled a muscle. I was content with this for a year but then requested an xray of my hip which showed degenerative arthritis. I have dealt with this for the last 12 years until now. I am not able to run or play sports but can still ride my bike without difficulty.I also purchased an elliptigo bike which has helped.On 8/24 I underwent total left hip replacement with a 36mm ceramic ball on plastic prostheses through a lateral approach. When I woke up I was freezing and very thirsty.The surgeon used experal locally in the wound which was a local long acting anesthetic.
