ParticipantBrilliant report Mike – what is your secret? Hard work, I suspect, and sticking to sensible distances. I am currently 354 parkruns, more than half with my BHR (resurfaced) left hip and 93 on my Zimmer ceramic/ceramic THR right, and am hovering around 25 minutes/69% for 5k when I know I should be a minute faster.
This is partly due to focusing on getting fit enough for longer challenges in the hills, leading up to a successful crossing of the Welsh 3000s at the end of June, with my elder son. It was our 4th attempt, took 16 hours peak-to-peak and 21 hours/33 miles in total. Something had to give, in this case parkrun pace!
Now back in harness trying to chip away at this temporary barrier (for the third time in my parkrun career) because historically I could run 73% and that remains a target to get back to, as well as the 70 category racing to be done in just over a year’s time. Thanks again for being an inspiration!Pete
