Pain running

Had a Birmingham Hip installed 10 years ago. Max I could run after was 6 miles and would have muscle pain stop my run causing a limp and pain that would dissipate a bit allowing me to start running again. Now I am down to a mile or less when the pain and lockup appears. I run walk now from pain and max out at 2.4 miles. I can run almost s mile before Pain is to much and must walk.

Anybody similar? Dr. Always says X-ray looks good.

Thanks

      Mike,
I had my birmingham installed 6 month ago. I choose this type of device as I thought it would be the better suited for running. I am an x marathon runner, did Boston 3 times. So far I can only run about 4 miles, before it starts to hurt. I have learned (the hard way) to stop and walk once I feel the onset of the acke. If I don’t and push thru, I end up back on crutches for a few days . It seems to be getting better, in that I can go a little farther each week, before I feel anything and I have been getting more active and have been logging more running miles, I can run often, like once a day. but I have to keep the distance short, I usually stay under 5K length. My progress seems to be at a snails pace. A year ago I singed up for the Eugene marathon in April, think I will down grade to the 1/2 and walk a good part of it. I have another marathon in Sept. but at this point that looks questionable . Of course, all of this was and foreseen predicted by our wise prophet Tom , and his prophecy about me….. returning to running will take time and you will become very frustrated with your slow progress and how long it takes

Here is a study on running after hip resurfacing
      https://www.researchgate.net/publication/221802943_Running_Activity_After_Hip_Resurfacing_Arthroplasty_A_Prospective_Study

Note that the devices in the study where not the Bermingham , which has now, proven out to be superior.
I believe these other devices are no longer used in the US
