4 months post op

It’s 4 months today since I had my right THR. Not a day has passed that I’m not thankful to have it done. Before my THR I couldn’t even think of running, as even walking, sleeping and sitting were all very painful. Since my surgery I can painlessly participate in almost any activity I choose. I’m exercising on my elliptical every other day for 30-60 minutes as well as walking and biking and light strengthening. I still have some nagging nerve numbness and discomfort but overall pain is probably 95% better and still improving as I heal. I have jogged a couple hundred yards several times but I don’t plan to get back to regular running until I feel fully healed. The impact still feels slightly uncomfortable and I’m not confident in overall strength yet. But I’m well on my way to recovery and looking forward optimistically. Thank you to HipRunners for your supportive and inspirational personal accounts of triumph after hip replacement. I don’t post much but I really do check in daily on HipRunners to read about new stories of success . Thanks again to Hip Brother Tom for giving us this forum.

I think I speak for many of us when I say Huzzah! It is such a gift to get your life back and to not have to live with constant pain. There will always be other challenges but a properly functioning joint is a wonderful thing to behold. All the best for a continued smooth recovery!
