.I have had problems with my left hip since I was 14 years old. I have always been active in sports all of my life, mostly running, wrestling, and football. Every time I would go to the doctor over the years for what I thought was just groin pain I was told I had a groin strain. I ran cross county in college and posted some decent times in the 8k, running at nationals twice and being an all region runner. After college I took a break from running mostly because of the groin pain and got into weight lifting, gaining a lot of weight both good and bad. My pain never seemed to go away and I went back to the doctor when I was 26 year old and he checked out my hips for the first time and told me I had no range of motion. I just thought I was never flexible, he did x rays of them and called me to tell me I had advanced arthritis in my left hip and moderate in my right, telling me I needed a full hip replacement. I also had bone spurs on both sides and my left hip was bone on bone. I limped around for a few more years before getting my left one replaced when I was 30 years old. After some motivation from some friends I have decided to start running again and I have zero pain in my replaced hip, I plan on getting my right one done after I do a half marathon, I'm looking forward to being able to run with no pain for the first time in my life.
