Hi! I just had my right THR five days ago. I’ve been an avid runner for the past 14 years having run 12 marathons, including 5 Boston’s, thirty-some half marathons and countless other races of various distances. I had bilateral hip surgery 3 years ago to try to correct femoral acetabular hip impingement. It has helped my left hip but has been a struggle with my right hip since then. Too much damage was done before I was diagnosed. I returned to running after FAI surgery but battled with pain in my right hip. I fought it for as long as I could but finally had it done this past Monday. The first few days were rough but I’m managing the pain and swelling and feel I will transition to walking with a cane in the next week. My surgery was done at the Rothman Institute. And I have no restrictions on activity once I heal. My doctor has no issue with me returning to running after I heal! I’m grateful to have found this site and look forward to reading stories from others who have also been through this!!
