60 years old, been running for 40 years. Diagnosed with degenerative arthritis March 2018. Severe groin pain hobbled me in May of 2018 - no more running. First cortisone injection lasted 5 days which led to 3 months of limping around town walking to try and keep weight off. Second injection in July 2018 lasted 7 months but running, even a little, caused pain so basically no running. Last injection was last week, Feb, 11, 2019. No relief, pain is worsening. Starting to consider moving forward with THR when possible. Really want to be able to run again - for physical and mental health. Other forms of exercise are not options. Swimming and biking used to also be staples of my exercise but cervical fusion surgery and permanent nerve damage in shoulders and neck limit my range of motion with my shoulders and neck. Hands go numb when leaning bike handlebars and spine in my neck is unable to handle the tilted back position of head. I need to run!
