I had osteoarthritis in my left hip. At the time of surgery I had experienced debilitating chronic hip pain for 3 years. I was formerly a runner and I switched to hiking prior to surgery and then became immobile, inactive and overweight. Post surgery I did PT for about 6 months switched to a keto diet and lost weight. I joined a gym, did strength training to rebuild the muscles around my hip. I started walking daily and eventually incorporated light jogging into my walks. I’m am now in week 4 of C25k being very careful, working on flat surfaces and concentrating on form with no abnormal pain or red flags.
