Five Days Post op

I had a right THR on Wednesday, 12/2 – so far so good. There was a lot of debris in the leg so my anterior approach took a little longer. Stayed overnight and felt great on Thursday. The walker is cumbersome but I guess necessary to prevent falls. Not much need for the painkiller, but I find I relax a lot better and am not as restless when I take it. Can’t wait to graduate to cane and then unassisted. Anxious to start real walking and then swimming. Materials used and running

I am having surgery 12/2 – anterior approach, titanium stem, ceramic head and plastic liner. Do you think this combination will be conducive to successful running? The doc says they only have a 5 year history of this product and the long-term forecast is unavailable at this time – but chose them because it is indicated the head and liner are supposed to be the best. How long before I can run again?

How long does it take to get back into running? Many of my friends finished the Marine Corps Marathon today, and I am itching to hit the streets. (and more than a little ticked off that I am not with them). With a 12/2 surgery date – realistically, how long am I going to have to wait? I’ve never run a full – just a handful of halfs.
