Hi Team HipRunners. I’m a 50 year old woman who ran for 33 years up until 3 years ago where I couldn’t anymore because of the arthritis in both hips. The cartlidge in the left hip is almost completely gone and the right one is close behind it. My surgeon estimates I’ll be able to go a minimum of 2 more years max before surgery but he says I could have surgery now.
My physical status:
-I don’t have much pain unless it’s raining outside and then it’s about a 2 out of 10 pain ratio
-I don’t have good dexterity in either leg and I do limp a bit
– it’s not easy to get in and out of a car
– my hip gives every couple of days
-i can’t run anymore but can do the elliptical for about 40 minutes with no incline
My question to you guys is when did you know it was time to have the surgery done? What specific thing happened that you knew it was time? I don’t need to run again but I would like to be able to walk or ride a bike longer distances. I have a fear of going through surgery and it being worse than before surgery.… (Click Here to View Full Post and Comments)
