4 months post THR – 1st run

So the day has finally come 🙂 I decided this morning to take a trip up to the Polo Grounds in Phoenix Park, here in Dublin and do a bit of running.

The Polo Grounds is nice and flat and the grass is well kept.

The course is approx 1k from start to finish. Done a bit of a stretch before. Started by jogging 250m then walk 250m.

It felt OK, there was a small feeling in the hip not a bad or sore feeling, just different from the good side.

After a few runs I decided to change my running form a bit, by landing on my fore foot instead of mid foot and trying to land more softer, which I think helped.

In anyway I ran 2k and walked 2k which is 4 laps…it’s a big milestone for me, thought I’d never be able to run again.

The plan is to stay on the grass and gradually increase the distance, I don’t have any long term goals, I’ll just take one day at a time.

Big thanks to everybody here on hiprunner for sharing there stories and advice.

One question, would it be a good idea to invest in a good pair on insoles for my runners?
